The reds and rosés are mainly made from Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cinsault. The whites are made from Clairette, White Grenache, Bourboulenc and Roussanne.
Full-bodied, round and rich on the palate, the red wines of Vacqueyras have notes of red fruit and violets, but also hints of liquorice and undergrowth. These are wines of character, well-balanced and fine, best enjoyed within the first eight years.
