The Côtes du Rhône appellation

Southern Rhône Valley

Terroir

The climate benefits from warm, very sunny days, predominantly Mediterranean, and the influence of the Mistral.

Grape varieties

Grenache (40% minimum) dominates for reds and rosés, accompanied by Syrah, which is very present throughout the southern part. Many other grape varieties (Cinsault, Carignan, Counoise, Vaccarèse, etc.) may be added to meet the local soil and climate challenges.
The appellation can be produced on almost any terroir in the Rhône Valley.

Wine style

Aged in barrels or vats, Côtes-du-Rhône offers a wide variety of wines. The reds can be light and fruity, with a lively attack, but they can also be wines with good ageing potential, more tannic and structured.
The rosés, influenced by Cinsault, are fruity and should be drunk young.
The white wines are aromatic and fresh, thanks to blends of roussanne, white grenache, marsanne, bourboulenc, clairette and viognier.
