The Beaumes-de-Venise appellation

Southern Rhône Valley

Terroir

Located at the foot of the mountains Dentelles de Montmirail, the terroir is made up of three types of soil:

Red Triassic soils - Cultivable, shallow soils of very low fertility, which ensure that the vines planted are not stressed by either drought or humidity.

White Cretaceous soils, in the commune of La Roque-Alric -Marly clay-limestone soil, mainly cultivated in terraces, which receives maximum sunlight.

The Jurassic grey soils, north of the village of Lafare - Composed of silt, clay and sand, facing east/south-east, which provides optimum sunshine and ensures even ripening.

Grape varieties

A minimum of 50% Black Grenache and 25-50% Syrah are used. Mourvèdre completes the first two. Finally, secondary grape varieties such as Cinsault, Carignan and Counoise, as well as white grape varieties, authorised up to a maximum of 10%, add an original touch that can be seen as the producer's signature.

Wine style

Beaumes-de-Venise wines, exclusively reds, develop scents of red fruit, liquorice and spices, sometimes black fruit, and are characterised by immense finesse.
